ASL Tutoring

Looking for a little extra ASL practice or some one-on-one support? We'd love to help!

Our tutoring sessions are held online, with a small selection of Deaf 2SLGBTQIA+ instructors available to support your learning journey. Whether you're hoping to build confidence in your conversational skills, review something you've learned in class, or focus on specific ASL topics, our teachers are happy to work with you at your own pace!

Each session is 40 minutes, with sliding-scale tuition of $45–$75 per session (in your own currency). Simply choose an amount within the range that works best for your budget! Your payment helps compensate our Deaf instructors for their time and expertise while also supporting Queer ASL's ongoing operations.

  • Not at all! Our tutoring sessions are open to anyone looking for some extra ASL support, whether you're currently taking classes with us, learning ASL elsewhere, or simply wanting to brush up on your skills.

    If you're not currently a Queer ASL student, we ask that you reach out to us at hello@queerasl.com before booking to tell us a little about your ASL background and what you're hoping to work on. This helps us make sure we're a good fit for your learning needs and that we have an instructor who can support you!

  • Pretty much anything related to your ASL learning! You can practise conversations, review grammar or vocabulary, work on receptive skills, or focus on something specific that's been challenging you. Our instructors are happy to tailor the session to your learning goals.

  • Absolutely! You don't need any previous ASL experience to book a session. Our instructors can help you get started with the basics, although we generally recommend our ASL 101 classes if you're looking for a more structured introduction to the language. If you're not already a Queer ASL student, please contact us before booking.

  • We offer sliding-scale tutoring at $45–$75 per 40-minute session, in your own currency. Simply choose an amount within the range that works best for your budget!

    Please send your payment right after booking to confirm your session.

    • In Canada: Send an e-transfer to queerasl@gmail.com.

    • Outside Canada: Send your payment through PayPal in your own currency.

    Please include your name with your payment so we can match it to your booking!

  • We recommend thinking about what you'd like to focus on so you can make the most of your 40 minutes. If you have specific questions, vocabulary, or materials you'd like to review, feel free to bring them along.

  • Of course! You're welcome to book individual sessions whenever you need extra practice or arrange ongoing tutoring to continue building your skills over time.
